UNDEAD Chapter 1

Hey it’s Alex here!

And… I’m jumping on the Huai Shang train where Moe and Cloud have been hanging out on.

I’ll be working on Undead, and translating it right from the first chapter. This is probably a slow project though, as POBE will still be the one that will be updated daily (soon). My brain might melt if I were to post daily updates of Undead haha!

Anyway, here’s Chapter 1 of Undead!

  1. Why can’t you pick up this novel after chapter 14? It’s unfair for the people who have been loyal followers, since the beginning, and now have to wait for you to re-translate from the start, which is going to take forever; going by the very blunt words you personally wrote in the above statement.

They sounded uncaring as it seemed like you could care less about this novel on your priority list. I found your a/n to be rude and upsetting. Also, I know a lot of big name translators who have picked up other translations from halfway in the story. There is nothing wrong with doing it.

Please, I hope you change your mind about re-starting this amazing story from the beginning, because it’s a disservice to the fans who love this novel as much as I do who have been patiently waiting this entire time. Anyway, good luck and well wishes.

    1. And I found your comment to be rude and upsetting?

Considering that there were mistakes and details left out in the previous translation, I chose to re-translate the novel from the start. I’m doing this as a hobby, and out of my own free will. I get to decide what I want to do with it.

I’m no big-name translator. All I want to do is show respect to the author’s work that I admire greatly. Furthermore, my statement is to clarify that I WILL NOT be doing daily updates on this project, unlike my previous completed projects and my on-going ones. Also, I’ve already released two chapters within the week? I don’t see how that’s taking forever.

I’ll rather be unfair to the people who have been loyal followers, than to be unfair to the author’s amazing work. This is a passion project of mine. You can take it or leave it.

      1. Oh, I didn’t take that into consideration about missing details. I accept my error and you are right, I did come off aggressive. Sorry. I’m very blunt and only think in the moment.

My fear is that like the previous translator, you would abandon this novel and not prioritize it. I didn’t check if you were translating other works, which is my bad. And respecting the author’s work is a big thumbs up for me. Again, as a reader and fan of this author’s work, I agree. Never meant to for my tone of voice to be seen as rude or upsetting. Seriously, from the bottom of my heart: I’m sorry.

Just please don’t forget this story or abandon the fans like throwaway trash. I guess, I let my hurt and frustration show from how some translators abandon their readers with nary a thought or finding a new translator to pass on the novel.

Anyway, take care and again, I’m sorry. If someone gives me a clean and succint call-out then I’m more than happy to accept my errors. Thanks! 🙂

    2. Indeed there is nothing wrong with tl-ing from where it’s left off, but don’t try to shame us by throwing “big-timers” around here on BBTL. We are doing what we love, and if an existing tl is poor and inaccurate, we’d rather respect the works we love by tling things right, even if it means starting from the beginning. We are an ad-free site, and all the novels we translate are works we actually care about. Please take your rude self-entitlement elsewhere if you don’t like our commitment to consistency and accuracy.
