The reason why Lin SuCi would think of this is because he probably watched too many dramas in his previous life. It’s one of those scenes when a character meets the parents of their partner, the parents are very happy about them (or grudgingly accepts them whatever), and they’ll tell the character, “Shouldn’t you address me by a different manner now?” And the character would go, “Father/Mother-in-Law!”
Yup, that’s what’s running through Lin SuCi’s head.
